Chapter Four: The Fight
Hubert was going insane. His cube was directly across from the main conference room and the racket was becoming unbearable. The meeting had been going on for 20 minutes and none of the screaming women inside had had the courtesy to shut the door. He had tried several times already to make it obvious to them that he was being bothered. Standing up and looking into the conference room, trying to make eye contact hadn't worked. He didn't know what the meeting was about, but it was clear that these women were entranced.

As they did every morning, Hubert's eyes popped open just in time to see the numbers on his digital clock snap to 5:30 am. With this, the buzzer, that had no purpose other than to make every person who comes in contact with it utterly miserable, began its shriek.
Hubert, as was his morning ritual, let the buzzer continue for exactly 5 minutes. He didn't particularly care for the sound. His reason for allowing the buzzer to continue had more to do with the fact that he had an overriding fear of falling back asleep and being late for work.
